Capital Link, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding community-based health care, recently released a 2009 economic impact statement produced in conjunction with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) calculating the effect of WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care,s Pascoag, Foster, and North Kingstown health centers on the local community.
Highlights of the report include:
*WellOne injected $7.7 million of operating expenditures directly into the local economy, and stimulated additional indirect and induced economic activity of $6.4 million.
*WellOne had an overall economic impact of $14.1 million.
*WellOne directly generated 88 jobs.
*WellOne supported an additional 52 jobs in other industries.
“For over 100 years, WellOne Primary Medical and Dental Care has been caring for the public health of area citizens,” stated President & CEO, Peter J. Bancroft. “We are very proud of our ability to serve the needs of the community both through the primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services that we offer to all as well as our ability to positively impact the local economy. Although this report reflects the positive results of our efforts in 2009, all of the economic indicators denoting our local impact have only increased since then.”
